Eternal Dependence: Embracing Our Heavenly Father's Unfailing Support

In the journey of faith, the concept of dependence often transforms. Unlike earthly relationships where independence is celebrated, our spiritual walk with our heavenly Father invites a different approach—one of perpetual reliance and trust. 

Abiding in Divine Love

The scripture from John 15:7–8 illuminates the essence of this divine relationship. It speaks of abiding in Christ and His words, a process that nurtures our desires and aligns them with God's will. As we remain in Him, we not only fulfil our purpose but also bring glory to the Father, bearing fruit that signifies true discipleship.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. – John 5:7–8.

The Contrast with Earthly Expectations

Our earthly fathers, with the best intentions, guide us towards self-reliance. Yet, in the kingdom of heaven, the paradigm shifts. We are encouraged to never outgrow dependence on our heavenly Father. This dependence is not a sign of weakness but of strength and growth, for it is in Him that we find the sustenance to flourish.

The Assurance of God's Covenant

Life's vicissitudes often test our resilience. People and circumstances may falter, but the Lord's covenant of peace and kindness remains unshakable. Isaiah 54:10 offers comfort, reminding us that even when the natural world changes, God's kindness and peace endure.

For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord, who has mercy on you. – Isaiah 54:10.

Focusing on Eternal Promises

Matthew 24:35 and Luke 12:32 echo the steadfastness of God's word and His generous nature. As the author and finisher of our faith, God's promises are unwavering. They stand firm against the transient backdrop of the world, offering hope and assurance.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. – Matthew 24:35.

Conclusion: A Call to Trust

In essence, our spiritual growth is intertwined with our dependence on God. It is a dependence that brings glory to the Father and cultivates a heart that is receptive to His kingdom. As we navigate life's challenges, let us hold fast to the promises of our eternal Father, whose love and peace are everlasting.

Gold vs Glitters

   In our search for happiness and fulfilment, we often find ourselves at a crossroads, faced with a choice between the temporary and the eternal, the superficial and the substantial.  The words of Matthew 16:26–27 serve as a powerful reminder: "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, yet loses his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" The allure of glitter and material possessions is strong and tempting. They offer immediate gratification, but are fleeting and do not last. Our bodies are mortal and our time on earth is limited. We can accumulate wealth and possessions, but we cannot add a single moment to our lives. Rise above the crowd

The crowd is loud and persuasive. It can tempt us to follow its opinions and actions, even if they go against our values and goals. It can make us forget who we are and what we stand for. But we don’t have to succumb to the crowd. We can rise above it. The crowd is like a raging river. It can sweep us away from our true destination and leave us stranded in a place we don’t belong. But we can swim against the current. We can find our way back to our path. When we realize that we have made wrong choices that led us astray, we may feel scared or ashamed to turn around. But we must not hesitate. We must act quickly and decisively. It is better to lose some time or money than to lose ourselves. We can resist the crowd by asking ourselves some critical questions: Does this honour God? Is this in line with His will? Is this consistent with my purpose? Is this valuable?
