From Humble Beginnings to Greatness: The Power of Faithfulness

In the corridors of ancient Israel, Elisha embarked on a remarkable journey of service alongside the revered prophet Elijah. Amidst the backdrop of prophetic ministry, Elisha’s role was often obscured by the towering presence of his mentor. Yet, undeterred by the seemingly menial tasks assigned to him, Elisha embraced each duty with unwavering dedication.

For the years Elisha served with Elijah, he was asked to perform insignificant duties. Not many people recognized him.

In the quiet moments of servitude, Elisha’s faithfulness remained steadfast. Though his contributions may have appeared inconspicuous, they laid the foundation for a divine purpose yet to unfold. Little did he know that each act of service was a stepping stone towards his destiny.

Elisha’s story mirrors the timeless truth encapsulated in the parable of the talents—a poignant reminder of the significance of faithful stewardship.

“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” ~ Matthew 25:21.

   In our search for happiness and fulfilment, we often find ourselves at a crossroads, faced with a choice between the temporary and the eternal, the superficial and the substantial.  The words of Matthew 16:26–27 serve as a powerful reminder: "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, yet loses his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" The allure of glitter and material possessions is strong and tempting. They offer immediate gratification, but are fleeting and do not last. Rise above the crowd

The crowd is loud and persuasive. It can tempt us to follow its opinions and actions, even if they go against our values and goals. It can make us forget who we are and what we stand for. But we don’t have to succumb to the crowd. We can rise above it. The crowd is like a raging river. It can sweep us away from our true destination and leave us stranded in a place we don’t belong. But we can swim against the current. We can find our way back to our path. When we realize that we have made wrong choices that led us astray, we may feel scared or ashamed to turn around. But we must not hesitate. We must act quickly and decisively. It is better to lose some time or money than to lose ourselves. We can resist the crowd by asking ourselves some critical questions: Does this honour God? Is this in line with His will? Is this consistent with my purpose? Is this valuable?
