Choosing Between God’s Truth and Satan’s Lies

The decision to commit one's life to Jesus is a profoundly significant moment. In a world full of choices and persuasive voices, making this decision can be very challenging. Even those with unwavering faith can be swayed by conflicting opinions, leading them astray. In this complex landscape, divine revelation is necessary for finding the true path to life, requiring a steadfast search for God.

Amidst the clamour of choices and voices that envelop us, it's crucial to recognize that there is only one voice that serves as a compass leading us towards the Father, and that voice belongs to Jesus, the channel through which we reconnect with ourselves and find our way back home.

Discovering Jesus goes beyond mere recognition; it mandates unwavering belief and a resolute commitment to staying within His embrace. In the words of Jesus Himself: 

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me” — John 14:1. 

The invitation is clear: the same faith that grounds us in the sovereign God should extend to the Saviour who clears the way.

Jesus offers a vivid metaphor to describe this journey, picturing His Father’s house as a place with many mansions, each one awaiting those who walk the path of faith. He assures us that if this were not true, He would have told us. 

His commitment to His disciples is undeniable as He goes on a preparatory journey to create a home for us, a place of eternal belonging. This promise highlights the intimacy of the bond He shares with those who believe in Him.

Further illustrating this spiritual bond, Jesus refers to himself as the shepherd in the analogy of the sheep, as described in John 10:27: 

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” 

This metaphor captures the intimacy between Jesus and his disciples. His true followers can distinguish and internalize his teachings, reflecting a deep understanding of his message.

In the second part of the verse, “I know them, and they follow me,” Jesus emphasizes his knowledge of his disciples. This conveys a deep connection where Jesus knows each individual’s heart, intentions, and faith. The act of following Jesus signifies a loyal allegiance to his teachings and guidance, reflecting a sincere relationship of trust and obedience.

As believers, it is vital to reflect on the questions raised by these verses. Do we share an intimate bond with Jesus, recognizing his voice and allowing his teachings to guide us? Are we known by him through our faith and actions? Are we wholeheartedly following him as our shepherd? Such introspection helps nurture a genuine and vibrant relationship with Christ.

On the other hand, Jesus’ words in John 8:44 offer a stark contrast, as he addresses the enemies who align themselves with deception and falsehood: 

“You are of your father the devil…he is a liar and the father of it.” 

This verse highlights the critical importance of discerning whose voice we listen to. It challenges us to evaluate whether our actions and attitudes align with the truth of Christ or with the deceptive ways of the enemy.

The contrast between the paths of life and death has its roots in the story of humanity’s origin. Death was not God’s intended destiny for humanity; everlasting life was the original plan. Yet, the choice of disobedience by our first parents led to the invasion of death into the world.

Consider the verse below: 

“While it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” — Hebrews 13:15. 

The verse is from the Old Testament, in the book of Exodus, and it talks about the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness. It serves as a warning to the Israelites, showing the consequences of resisting God’s voice. The “rebellion” refers to a specific event when the Israelites defied God despite witnessing His miracles and hearing His voice through Moses.

The author of Hebrews uses this historical example to caution us against rebellion and encourage us to heed God’s voice. The verse emphasizes the importance of obeying God’s commands and avoiding disobedience. 

It highlights the significance of our choices in determining our destiny after death. Ultimately, the verse urges us to live a life that aligns with God’s will, as this impacts not only our own lives but also the lives of those around us.

The verse from Isaiah 66:2 emphasizes that God values those who are humble, repentant, and have reverence for His word. It explains that genuine believers should possess humility, repentance, and respect for God’s word, rather than focusing on outward appearances or achievements.

Everyone has the opportunity to choose their path in life, and it is crucial to make choices that align with God's truth rather than the lies of Satan.

When we're confronted with conflicting options, it can be tough to make decisions. We've all been in that situation, weighing the pros and cons and feeling unsure about which path to choose. In those moments, seeking guidance from a higher power can bring clarity and peace.

Salvation represents being saved from suffering, ignorance, or separation. It's not just about the afterlife; it's about transforming our lives here and now, which impacts our eternal existence.

Accepting salvation means acknowledging our need for healing, forgiveness, and redemption. It's a humbling experience, yet it brings a sense of liberation.

So, let's be open to seeking divine guidance, especially when we're faced with important decisions. Let's embrace salvation as a journey towards wholeness, compassion, and love.
